Lingerie For Your Body Type

Check out some helpful tips on picking out lingerie for your body type:

1. Know your strong features. Look in the mirror. What is it that you like about yourself? Is it your legs? Or how about your bust? Or maybe it’s you stomach? For me, I like my back and shoulders so I try to pick out a piece that exposes those areas. By using the features you like, you can pick out something that not only looks good, but also makes you feel good about yourself. Once you decide the part of the body that you want to accent, then you can move to the next step. But remember, not only are you trying to find that feature that you want to stand out…but you also want to recognize the parts of you that you want to minimize. This will also help with your confidence.

 2. Pick the right fabric. Fabric can be very important. I noticed that when shopping for any type of clothing, knits and very stretchy fabrics don’t look great on me because they hug all the wrong places. Some people look good in stretchy tight fabrics and others don’t. I prefer to get a fabric that has more substance, such as those in a bustier or corset. I don’t mind sheer fabrics, as long as I get the right size and it falls nicely. Try on different fabrics and decide which looks best. Be realistic with yourself and find something that compliments your body and doesn’t accent the features you want to hide.

3. Pick the right style. This is the fun part. Sometimes you may think a certain style may look bad on your body type, but you may be wrong. I love bustiers and corsets. I never really wanted to try on a babydoll or chemise because I have larger boobs and thought there would not be enough support. I was wrong. I found a babydoll that had under wire in the bust area and it actually looked really good. Lingerie that doesn’t have support just isn’t good for me. Let’s all be real. We all don’t have breast implants and can’t make our boobs look perky 24-7. Those that can, awesome! Use what you have and get that perfect piece that shows them off. Those with smaller boobs may prefer pieces that tie around the neck or something with a push up bra. This will make them look larger and create more cleavage.

Others may try to minimize their bust and try to accent another part of their body by showing off their thin waist or buying something with a high slit to accent their legs. If your trying to hide your stomach, choose a piece that still gives you curves, but doesn’t hug the waist. Many babydolls and chemises can create this look. Also bustiers and corsets can pull in the waist area to create a more slender look. Those that want to show off their stomach, try wearing a match set or a teddy. Camisoles can also be very sexy.

Lastly, hips may also be of a concern for some ladies. If you want to minimize your hips, don’t buy a piece that hugs that area. Try buying a gown or babydoll that falls out on the sides. If you have longer legs and don’t mind showing them, buy a short babydoll with a slit.

4. Choose a right color. We all know that when we go clothing shopping some colors just look better than others. For me, since I have dark brown hair I love dark colors, such as dark reds, blues and greens. My favorite color to wear is black, but since I don’t have a dark natural tan, black isn’t always the best choice. People with lighter hair look good in pastels and white. If you have bright green or blue eyes, buy a color that will make them stand out. Also, try dressing for the season. Wear a sexy red and fur piece for the holiday season. For Valentines Day buy something flirty and fun.

5. Lastly…Accessorize. I love accessories. The simplest piece of lingerie can be spiced up by adding sexy garters, shoes large earrings, robes or thigh high stockings.  Adding additional items to a piece can draw attention away from areas you want to hide. Accessories near the face draw attention away from other parts of the body. If you don’t like your legs, don’t wear thigh high stocking. If you do end up wearing them, wear a dark color. Lighter colors will make your legs stand out more. Also, if you get risqué, try adding other accessories such as whips and handcuffs. Now that you know how to confidently, bring out the dirty side in you…
